Karmic Angels & Sir Farimang Singhateh Foundation Continue Feeding The Poor & Needy

Carrying on from the 20 push ups challenge where Karmic Angels and Sir Farimang Singhateh Foundation have distributed 100 bags of rice to the poor and needy from the West Coast region to Janjanbureh (formerly Macarthy Island) the 2 charities have been distributing free quality bread (thanks to Lady Fanta’s Bakery, Sukuta) to many villages throughout the Gambia throughout Ramadan.

The situation regarding feeding is very desperate due to Covid 19 with many people not having any income at all. Thanks to many donations from the diaspora USA, UK, Sweden and The Gambia we have now completed 7 distributions to date with 4 more to take place until the end of Ramadan. To date around 250 dozen (3000) breads and by the end of Ramadan will total approx. 370 dozen (4440) breads to hungry people.

We have had TV coverage via Star TV, Paradise TV and QTV plus articles in the press covering all our distributions of rice and bread.

We would love to continue supporting even further into the year, but we need your support to do that. At the bottom of the right hand column on our website we have a PayPal subscribe link where you can “FEED THE POOR AND NEEDY IN THE GAMBIA” for as little as £2 a month. Please see what you can do to support the work of both charities. Thank you in advance

Liverpool FC donate football strip to Karmic Angels

SNK Squad in their Liverpool kitLiverpool kit presentation to SNK FC at Suma Kunda

Thanks to Liverpool FC a Third Division team called SNK in Suma Kunda Brikama District Kombo North The Gambia has a complete squad kit of 16  Liverpool FC shirts and shorts kindly donated by them. Karmic Angels took these to the Gambia in March 2010 and had a presentation of the kit to the manager and coach and his 1st team squad at Suma Kunda. The joy on the faces of these young men knowing that they have a genuine kit to wear from Liverpool FC.

This was reported on by the Daily Observer sports page and also on Gambian national TV thanks to GRTS (Gambia Radio and Television Service and was featured on national TV there on 2 nights. The presentation was then followed by a football match between the hosts Suma Kunda and Sotokoi FC on a very heavy sandy pitch with no grass but excellent skills from both sides. Quality football displayed and an amazing day was had by all.

Full details of this auspicious day will be featured on Liverpool FC’s website together with more photos and video footage shortly.

Top picture shows the SNK FC football team in their new Liverpool kit – below Stephanie & Alan presenting the the kit to each player.

Furthermore SNK have a ladies football team and in the future we aim to be able to supply them with a kit too. Our future in the Gambia towards football is forward looking and we have also within our projects given to Busumbala Medina Nursery School and Brikama Medina Nursery School 2 complete football kits donated by Woolston Rovers FC in Warrington who kindly donated a further 15 complete kits for youth football development in the Gambia which we aim to distribute to Boyz Utd FC Academy and Seaview FC Academy for boys in the age group 9 to 16. This will bring more community spirit and also help with the younger boys attending school and creating an interest for the villages where entertainment is non existent.

Football has a leading role with us and it is expected that more children will become educated as their are now additional interests outside of the schools but being controlled by the schools to give added benefit to the children to be at school. Anyone else who has football kits that are no longer wanted we would be pleased to take these to the Gambia. Most teams do not have football kits sometimes all they have is a bib so that their colours dont clash. Help us to help these poor teams. Thank you.
